Welcome to the April edition of the Project LifeSail Campaign newsletter. Thanks to everyone who has been generous with time and wallet since the launch of the campaign in late January.

Daylight Savings Time is Evil
For those of us who don't have the pleasure of living in Arizona, on April 3rd we woke up just a little less rested than the previous morning. Yep, according to daylight savings time we get to 'spring forward'. I don't know about you, but sleep deprivation doesn't put a spring in my step. It does get me to thinking, though, about time and its relevance to Project LifeSail.

More time...16 months until the start of the race and already I'm thinking "we need more time." More time to prep the boat, more time to practice, more time to study, more time...more time. Of course, Jeff and I won't get more time for those things, but we do have the comfort of knowing when we have to be to the start line and what we have to do to be ready for that start date.

Preemies and their parents aren't so lucky. They don't have the luxury of time. Like a bad case of daylight savings time, their "start date" gets moved forward, sometimes by months, and usually with little advance notice. And unlike the rest of us who just sleep an hour later, there is little they can do to prepare for what's coming – no practicing, no training and, of course, no time. But that's where the pioneering research of the March of Dimes comes in, helping buy critical time for preemies.
