Welcome to the April edition of Project LifeSail Campaign newsletter.

Some days are harder than others

So there you are. Everything planned down to the finest detail. You're all set to make the most of an opportunity. You're all set to wring the most out of a vacation you've been planning for months. Yea, right. You're all set that is until life happens.

We've all been there. You're doing everything you know you need to be doing, but still a job takes longer than it should. Your trip goes awry because your luggage decided Spain was a better place to be than Japan. Or, or, or. There’s no planning for "or" most times. We've found that out during the course of the past month. From parts deliveries being delayed to finding a section of the boat's bottom that required additional rework, we've found ourselves adjusting to life’s little "ors". But adjust we have and with pretty good success. So while one part of the campaign may have slowed (boat prep), other parts of the campaign have accelerated (see parts donations and fundraising below).

Throughout, we've managed to maintain a mostly positive attitude, making the most of any given situation. That approach and the positive attitudes have helped us cope with life’s little "ors" and are undoubtedly helping prepare us to meet the challenges that await us on the 2,100 mile race from San Francisco to Oahu. It's that same positive approach that helped our Family of the Month get through the premature delivery of Jack.

"Ors" can be a royal pain…or they can be an opportunity for something more, something different, something better. It all comes down to attitude.

New this month

  • Family of the Month - Positive was the approach of choice for Carolyn and Danny Finnegan when Jack decided that 31 weeks was all the time he needed to prepare his own set of life "ors".
  • Fundraising
    • Positively good times were enjoyed by those who threw their support behind Project LifeSail at the inaugural Pray-for-Wind party.
    • New donation opportunity - Be the first on your block to own the official set of Project LifeSail shirt and hat. Great work by Blackfish Creative on some nice looking apparel.
    • Don't forget to buy your raffle tickets. They're only $20 and you could win a vacation to Mexico or Breckenridge or 6 months free moorage on the Columbia River.
  • The loaner parts have been a big help to the campaign. From Jon Josephson to Peter Reese to numerous other donors, the Keeli Quinn won't be lacking for the right tools to keep the crew safe and on-course during their race in July.
  • Jeff and Peter share their thoughts on what drives them to keep the fundraising efforts for the March of Dimes moving forward.
